Having previously built a few pieces of furniture for Café Plenty we were approached when they needed to remodel their counter area to accommodate a new tap system for serving locally brewed beers. The challenge of fitting in an entire cellar and bar in a tiny space behind an existing service area was not an easy one! We solved the space constraints by designing and manufacturing our own insulated chiller unit to fit a compact but powerful compressor. Ventilation for the compressor had to be steered away from beer lines so as not to affect serving temperatures and the units had to seal well to maintain temperature and lock to meet licensing laws. The serving counter was removed and remodelled to house a glass washing unit and additional fridge space and cup dispensers were added in the barista area to save space. Gold plated taps were used on a teal ceramic base and framed in the counter wood. Working height was an important consideration so we dropped the barista section significantly compared to the rest of the counter to allow for the machine size. A retail display unit was added above a curved hidden cupboard designed to hold the gas for the bar. We also helped the client solve an issue by building a bespoke projector housing for a digital menu! If you’re in Brighton check these guys out, their drinks and food are both delicious.
