Brighton Institute of Contemporary Theatre Training approached Wall to convert a former office building into a modern facility for degree level dance and theatre training. Wall developed designs in collaboration with the client and fully managed the budget and several teams of specialist contractors for this large project. The existing portico was safely removed and a new steel framed structure erected to create a branded first impression for students. Over 100 linear metres of stud walling was installed which was specifically insulated to dampen sound between studios. New electrics and lighting were installed, flooring was replaced with industry leading sprung dance floor and an intuitive signage system was designed and fabricated for the building. Bespoke furniture was made to meet the clients vision and requirements including versatile interlocking stools and tables and robust office and computer suite fixtures. Seeing the reaction to their new learning space from new and returning students has been incredibly rewarding for all of us here at Wall.
