A nice break from our larger projects, we created this bespoke record cabinet for a private client who wanted not only to store and display their vinyl records but also organise their extensive cd collection. The body of the cabinet is made from sapele and the handmade legs are local sussex oak. For the draw fronts we sliced and glued up 18mm baltic birch plywood to achieve a chevron pattern. The hardware is solid brass and keeps with the mid century inspired look and feel of the piece. The interior of the drawers was calculated to tightly hold the clients cd collection with the spines up for ease of use while allowing enough movement for the cds to be easily removed and replaced in their correct order. The whole piece was finished with many layers of danish oil and polished by hand to a semi gloss sheen.
